We don't have specific instructions for each individual applique, but all of our appliques are done in the same way.
Preparation:
Select fabrics. You can choose fabrics based on the pictures shown in the file or on the website, or you can choose your own.
Apply heat n bond lite to the back of your fabrics for the applique. This will help to prevent fraying and it will help keep little threads from hanging out after the final stitches. Don’t forget to remove the paper backing after applying the heat n bond.
The following order is followed in all of our designs:
1. Placement stitches (These show you where to place the fabric.) After these are stitched, lay down your applique fabric to completely cover the stitches.
2. Tack down stitches - after these are stitched, trim around the edges.
---repeat until all fabric is placed---
3. Finishing stitches will be completed. (these include the satin stitches and any other decorative stitching.)
*We provide thread charts for all of our designs. This will show you the order of steps and colors of thread to use if you choose to use the same colors. These charts will show the placement stitches in red, and the tack down stitches in blue. Please note that you do NOT have to use red and blue for these steps. On a single needle home machine, it's best in most cases to use the thread color of the first step of satin stitches. This will save you from having to change the thread several times.
**Some of our older designs do not have the thread chart attached to the zip file, please don't hesitate to contact me if you need the chart or you need further help.
